Stephen’s Market Review
The Return of Private House Builders
The demand for and lack of new homes available continues to bolster the residential development land market in the South West of England.
Sites in desirable areas with good access to cities and towns with good employment provisions are continuing to command premium land values.
Following a reduction in the number of smaller house building companies as a result of the last recession are now witnessing a rise in the formation of private house building companies.
Many of these companies are lead by individuals who have previously held Directorships with Plc house builders that are now able to secure finance to drive their business forwards.
These companies are typically seeking sites where they can develop between 20-60 units, which are less desirable to the Plc house building companies as they tend not to fit their financial models.
